Ian Collins
22:00 to 01:00 (Fri-Sun)"I am the Mahatma Ghandi of the airwaves; the Pied-Piper of talk radio. I'll lead this country with my magic verbal flute."
Ian Collins and the Creatures of the Night was the first show I ever listened to on Talk Radio, after making the switch from Up All Night on Radio 5. The format is free-flowing and constantly evolving, with callers often setting the direction of the show. Light-hearted or serious, Ian copes equally well with both... although I will admit a preference for the more serious stuff.
Unfortunately, recent changes have seen the demise of Mad Mikey Hanson, but Miff the Merciless has been resurrected! His painless re-introduction was apparently due to the fact that he's no longer in Agony (boom, boom!). Another of the original Creatures, Sarah "I don't believe in doggy-style" Mulvey also returns to co-host with Ian each Friday, spouting her precarious, man-hating, hairy-armpitted views. :o)
Clips from the Jerky Boys are occasionally featured on Ian's show, and his music intros are faaantastic... just wish I knew who bloody played on them! If you think you know the names of the songs/artistes of the guitar-based intros circa 1996-97 (a long shot, I know!) then please drop me a line.
